Today, we'd like to take a moment to introduce our family.

Hiro

Originally a backpacker who traveled to over 100 countries, Hiro gained experience working in restaurants across the globe before settling in New Zealand. Here, he took on managerial roles at renowned establishments like Cocoro and The French Café. A certified Sommelier and Sake Sommelier, Hiro now wears many hats—owner of an online shop, host of tasting events, wine judge, and more. He’s also the family chauffeur, shuttling the kids to their activities.

Hiroko

The superwoman who handles all the tasks Hiro finds too bothersome at Somm Cellars. A mother of four, she juggles raising the kids while working as a pastry chef at a local restaurant, starting her day before dawn. Hiroko is also surprisingly skilled at blind tastings, occasionally achieving results that rival professionals. Her favorite dish? Hiro's homemade pasta.




 

 

 

Yuzu

Hiro and Hiroko’s eldest daughter. A dedicated gymnast, Yuzu trains an intense 17 hours a week at her gymnastics academy in Auckland while balancing her college homework. Her parents proudly vouch for her nerves of steel under pressure. With a budding interest in international cultural studies, she occasionally helps out with her father’s business.
 

Lizu

The younger sister of Yuzu and a little gymnast in her own right. Classic middle-child energy: fiercely competitive but naturally shy. Lizu has an uncanny knack for sweet-talking her dad but finds her mom a tougher nut to crack. She remembers every snack's location in the pantry and fridge but hasn't yet applied that sharp memory to her schoolwork.







 

Sosuke

The eldest son. Incredibly kind-hearted and dreaming of becoming either a YouTuber or a builder. He’s not a fan of chocolate and once protested in tears upon discovering that Easter eggs are made of it. Currently hard at work improving his basketball skills and mastering multiplication.

Issa

The youngest of the family. Despite Hiroko’s confidence after raising three kids, Issa has been a whirlwind since birth. Legend has it that on his very first night, his cries summoned nurses to the room without a call button. A true Auckland Zoo enthusiast, Issa could visit every week if allowed. His favorite zoo attraction? Onion rings and chips, of course!
