Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz
Shiraz from Grampians from Australia
Volume:750ml
Mount Rangi Gillan is a spectacular sight, with the rocky face of Mount Rangi Gillan towering 540 metres above the southern end of the Great Dividing Range in western Victoria. In addition to the high altitude, the cold air coming down from the mountains at night and the reduced amount of night-time sunlight due to the mountain shadows extending into the vineyards in early autumn, means that ripening of the grapes is slow and gradual. This results in Mount Langhi Giran Shiraz having a spicy, peppery flavour, similar to Syrah from the Northern Rhone region of France. The topsoil is silt and well-drained red clay loam, while the underlying terra rossa, an iron-rich red clay soil of Ordovician age, is also an important factor for good quality grapes.
Deep ruby. Blackberry, boysenberry with hints of spice. Black and blue fruits accompanied by chocolate, cardamom and cloves. Well integrated oak profile adds vanilla and spice. Length is carried by a well-balanced acid profile.
