Note from Winery:
"Hi wa Mata Noboru" is a red wine primarily made from the Tannat grape. The name "Tannat" is derived from "tannin," and its astringency is a notable characteristic. It is the main grape variety in the Madiran region of southwestern France, where the high annual rainfall contributes to producing dark-colored wines rich in fruit flavors and strong tannins, suitable for long-term aging. We believed that this grape could thrive in Japan as well, so we first planted it in Ashikaga. Subsequently, we sought to explore its potential further by asking a contracted farmer in Yamagata to cultivate it. Despite it being their first time with this variety, they readily agreed to the challenge. Thanks to the compatibility of the land and their expertise and techniques, we were able to harvest excellent grapes within just a few years. In the winery, we aimed for simplicity in the winemaking process to bring out the best of the grapes. The resulting wine is a powerful yet gentle red, harmonizing the fruitiness, astringency, and acidity of the Tannat grape with the smooth texture of Cabernet Sauvignon and Barbera.

At the foot of this vineyard, the designated support facility for persons with disabilities, Kokoromi Gakuen, was started.
