Manns Wines Solaris Chikumagawa Merlot
Black cherry, cassis and blueberry with gentle vanilla and a slight smokiness. The mouthfeel is tranquil, with a gradual, multi-layered mass of acidity on the tongue, enveloped by a gentle, smooth astringency. The fruitiness of the acidity is characteristic of the lingering finish. A lovely wine that conveys the care of the winemaker.
The Merlot grapes are sourced from vineyards under Manns Wines's own management and contract cultivation in the Osato district of Komoro, located in the eastern Chikumagawa Wine Valley in Nagano Prefecture. Mann's Wine was one of the first to start growing European grapes in this district, with some of the vines over 30 years old. The grapes are carefully harvested, selected and destemmed by hand, fermented in stainless steel tanks and matured in barrels for
approximately 20 months. It is characterised by a smooth, well-balanced flavour.
