After arriving in New Zealand in 1938, Dalmatian Mate Brajkovic purchased a small vineyard with his parents in 1944, near the settlement of Kumeu, to the north west of Auckland. After son Michael took over Kumeu River Wines in 1982, the potential of Kumeu River began to be realised, and Kumeu River has now established its reputation as one of New Zealand`s best white wine producers. The estate is particularly renowned for its Chardonnay, and its Kumeu River and Mate`s Vineyard Chardonnay win international acclaim on a regular basis.

Supremely pure with a breathtakingly velvety texture, the wine is so confident in its own expression, fruit, and elegance to perfection. A rich, textural palate with chalky, stone suck acidity, the oak will ease more into the background with a few years integration and be nothing but sublime. Rare to taste and always a pleasure, it will be even better 2025 through 2030+.
