The Vinalies Internationales Competition :  Gold (2018 Vintage)

Elegant and complex. Semi-dry blueberries and prunes. Licorice and gentian root-like spice nuances, wet earth and irony earthy mineral nuances. It is also layered and rich with subtle vanilla, cinnamon and a touch of coffee bean oak ripeness. The palate opens with a smooth entry, with a subtle sweetness from the glycerin, a soft acidity and a volume of around 14% alcohol, which creates a structure, with fine, pleasant tannins that tighten the contours. Long, mellow aromas waft into the nostrils. A great wine with finesse.

The grapes are sourced from a single vineyard of approximately 1 ha in the Higashiyama district of Ueda, planted in 2008 and planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It was named 'La Croix' (the crossroads) because of its location at the corner of a crossroads. The timing of the harvest is determined by the changes in sugar, acidity and tannin maturity of each grape variety. The wine expresses the harmony of the two varieties and the terroir of the single-vineyard 'La Croix'.
