Kupe is made entirely from Escarpment's home block first planted in 1999 on Te Muna Road. The alluvial gravels on the Martinborough Terrace provide a distinctive character that sets a benchmark for New Zealand Pinot Noir.
Immediately strong and concentrated with a delicious attack of sweet black and red fruits. Mixed spices, fine chocolate, anise and savoury oak add deep complexity to the mid palate, conjoined with classic savoury and herb seduction strengthening in the juicy, powerful prolonged finish. Impressive tannin and acid structure that will support its evolution through 2026-2034, needs to be served alongside an equally special dish.
