Flagship of the Bourgeois family, kings of Sancerre for 10 generations.
The family is based in the Sancerre village of Chavignol. The village is surrounded by 'Marne Kimmeridgian', a soil that tells the story of a former sea, containing many ammonite fossils and oyster shells from more than 150 million years ago. The steep slope in front of the estate, known as 'Mont Danet' (Hell's Hill), is particularly famous and is one of the most sought-after plots in Sancerre. It was first planted here by the Bourgeois family, who still own 25% of Mont Danet. The Bourgeois family has been in Sancerre for 10 generations. The wines are renowned for their dry, mineral-driven white wines that honestly reflect the terroir of Sancerre. The vineyards of Sancerre are rich in terroir, with a wide variety of soils, including clay-limestone soils known as terre blanche, kimmeridgian soils with ancient fossil deposits and flint silex soils.

This is a vineyard planted in 1936 on silex soil. This is the Domaine's signature cuvée, made from grapes from the best parcels of the estate. The wine is organically farmed with low yields, fermented in 4-6 year old oak barrels and matured on lees. No fining or filtration. Twice racked according to the lunar cycle.

Great minerality and spicy aromas.
