★A great value from the Priorat!★
Mas Martinet has come a long way since estate's inception in 1989. Now the estate is swiftly rising to the very pinnacle of fine wine production in the area. The emphasis here is on the Grenache grape, while Carignan and Syrah, too, play leading roles, with Cabernet and Merlot making up the numbers. These are strikingly beautiful examples of what Priorato can achieve and demonstrate exactly why the wine-loving world are sitting up and taking note of this unique slate-rich region.
The nose is heady and expressive, with dark fruits, plum, blueberry, spicy pepper and slight touches of smokey bacon.
The palate is equally powerful, with rich lingering dark fruits, well structured acidty and a defined minerality both adding structure to the wine. There is a high level of alcohol here, lending a warming note to the palate, but the depth and structure of the wine integrates the higher alcohol. This wine lingers long on the finish.
